A stunning and colourful composition painted by no other than - the former President of Uruguay! Edouardo Victor Haedo (1901-1970) was born in Mercedes in the department of Soriano and studied there at university which he however soon abandoned to devote himself to journalism and politics. A militant from a very young age, his natural environment was the the street tribune. A vigorous speaker, with a direct and clear language, he had the virtue of electrifying crowds, Of an artistic, fiery nature, he devoted himself to painting after he retired from politics.
His spirit shines through in this powerful abstracted landcape dating from 1969. An oil on board, the painting is signed at the lower right, dated and indistinctly titled in Spanish "Paya d'Ala.."on the verso. Measuring 40 x 50 cm, the overall framed size is 52 x 61.5 cm
