A striking, bold colourist painting by Vietnamese artist Ngoc Dung (1931-2000), dating from circa 1960.
His highly individualistic art is hard to categorise. In the artist"s own words:
"If in a picture all the colours and lines are fit and reasonable, the picture will turn into the work of a skilled craftsman. I hate craftsmanship."
And yet - or maybe because of this - there is a wonderful harmony to his painting, which are richly complex and by the same token spontaneous. It has a timeless quality and would look stunning in a mid century interior. Framed size: 64 x 85 cm cm, canvas size : 46 x 61 cm.
