A sunny and tranquil view of a provencal farmhouse - called a "mas" in the South of France - near Gassin, by noted landscape artist Andr Beronneau (Bordeaux 18861973). Beronneau exhibited at the Salon des Indpendants in Paris.
Gassin is a village perched high on a rock just behind St. Tropez on the Cote d'Azur, less than 3 miles from the mediterranean sea.
Dating from the 1950s, the oil on board was painted in the traditional manner of the southern French artists - with a paint knife rather than with brushes - and is signed at the lower left. The work of art is signed again and situated on the verso. Measuring 22 x 27 cm, the overall framed size of the painting is 29 x 34 cm.
