A fresh and charming French Impressionist landscape, painted with rich impasto and luminous colours. It is a work by

Jules Emile Bourg (born 1870) an artist from Metz in the Lorraine region, who settled in Juvisy-sur-Orge, near Paris. The town is very close to the valley of Petit Vaux, where our painting was painted.

Bourg specialised in landscapes, which were exhibited from 1910 at the Salon des Indpendants, and at the Salon de la Nationale des Beaux Arts between 1931 and 1939. From 1931, he also exhibited in his home town of Metz again. He was awareded the Gold Medal at the Cannes Salon in 1912.

Our charming landscaped is signed at the lower right, is also signed on the verso where it is dated 1914, and situated "Vue de la Valle Petit Vaux près de Epinay (sur Orge), May 1914" Measuring 19.5 x 27 cm, the overall size with a simple frame is 28 x 35.5 cm
