A lovely view of what is most likely an ancient provencal town Provence in the south east of France. That said, it may also have been painted in Liguria, on the other side of the French-Italian border. The oil on canvas presented here is a work by the Italian woman artist Olga Ceretti Borsini, who - like so many female artists born at in the early 20th Century - was a true Renaissance woman. Having acted in the 1938 Italian film "Partire" (Departure), she became a writer, essayist and translator as well as being a painter.
Our painting measures 51 x 60 cm without its frame and is signed "Olga" and dated 1968 at the lower right. It is signed again with the artist's full name on the verso. The overall size with a patinated wooden frame with some wear and repair is 71 x 62 cm.
