A beautiful bronze sculpture of a young schoolboy carrying books under his arm. The work is finely chiselled and with a lovely patina. It also has exquisite provenance: it comes from the Collection of Jacques and Claude Rohault de Fleury, which to a large extend was dispersed at Sothebys. According to the Sothebys website

"it was with an elegant Parisian touch that Claude and Jacques Rohault de Fleury assembled an eclectic and highly sophisticated collection in their beautiful home in Neuilly.

Upon entering, visitors discovered an enchanting collection of miniatures from North India, Deccan and Safavid Iran surrounding the central staircase. Moving through the beautifully decorated residence a fabulous collection of works by Lonard Tsuguharu Foujita blended with views of the South of France by renowned painters such as Pierre Bonnard, Paul Signac and Charles Camoin.

Beautiful decorative objects adorned the many rooms (...) the crossroads of the fine and decorative arts these exquisite objects, paintings, drawings and sculpture, carefully gathered together over the years, create a compelling and seductive coherence.

The bronze presented here is signed "Chiotti", and I have not been able to find information about the artist. Interestingly enough, the sculpture bears similarities to the work of Odoardo Fantacchiotti 1811-1977, of which I am providing an example in the last photo.
