An exceptionally strong and sculptural modernist nude dating from the 1920s-30s. The line drawing is in fact a collage of several pieces of lined notepaper, the structure and texture of which adds to the composition.
Measuring 20.5 x 14.5 cm, the artwork is signed A Tischler, which may refer to
Alexander Tyshler (July 26, 1898, Melitopol - June 23, 1980, Moscow) - a stage design, famous for his works for Shakespeares productions, painter and draughtsman.
Alexander Tyshler studied for five years at the Kiev Art School, and attended the workshop of Alexandra Exter, where he became friends with Ilya Ehrenburg and Osip Mandelstam.
