Abstract mid century collage cut out drawing French Nouveau Realisme

This interesting artwork is older than it looks! On the verso of its original sealed frame is the label from a Paris framer with a 4 digit telephone number, meaning the picture was framed in the early 1960s (four digit numbers were replaced by 8 digit numbers in 1963).

Our unusual work consits of two layers of paper: the top sheet covered in symbols in black ink has cut outs which let appear colourful forms underneath. Stylisticlly, it is close to the work of artists of the French Nouveau Réalisme movement. 

The size of the artwork measured without its frame is is 14.5 x 23 cm. From the estate of a Parisian collector.
